WSJY “Voice” Rules (Subject to change without notice)

Contest Dates: Contest will run from March 4-April 25, 2019

You can qualify to perform at an event by entering a drawing online or by attending an event and entering a drawing there to be selected to perform.  Performances will be voted on by the audience, until there is a winner.

Contestants must be available to attend an event at 841 Brew House in Whitewater on April 25, 2019 to be able to win.

No purchase is necessary. Void where prohibited by law.  All decisions of WSJY and NRG are final. Must be 21 years of age or older to participate in the contest.

How to enter:

Monday drawing:  To enter the drawing for a spot at a weekly competition, complete an online entry form at www.1073wsjy.com.  You can enter this drawing each week on Monday (March 4, 11, 25, April 1, and 8, 2019) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Each week is a new opportunity, so register once each week, your entry will not carry over from week to week.  Every Monday after 5 p.m., six names will be drawn, and those weekly drawing winners will be registered to compete at that week’s Thursday night karaoke competition.    Weekly drawing winners will need to be present at the event venue by 6:30 p.m. in order to participate.  If a winner is unable to attend or is late, their spot will be randomly awarded to an on-site registrant.  There is no cash value to this prize.

Thursday karaoke event: Locations of the Thursday night (March 7, 14, 28, April 4, 11 and 25, 2019) Karaoke events will be posted at www.1073WSJY.com.  Listeners who are not weekly drawing winners, but who wish to perform, need to complete a registration form available from the WSJY official at the event. Twelve (12) contestants will be chosen from all registrations received at each event during the contest period.  Contestants must be present when their entry is called to be eligible to perform.

At each Thursday karaoke competition, the 12 contestants chosen on-site and the 6 contestants chosen from on-line entries will each perform one song from the available library of Karaoke selections at the venue.   Contestants may not provide their own music but must choose from available selections provided by Wilder Entertainment.  The maximum number of contestants at any Thursday karaoke performance venue is 18.

At each karaoke competition event, two contestants will perform back-to-back in a “face off.”  Attendees will vote using tickets provided by WSJY after each set of two performers. For example, after performers one and two, attendees will write a 1 or a 2 on the back of a ticket, and WSJY staff will collect them, and so on for 3 & 4, 5 & 6, etc.   After ALL 18 performances, all contestants will be asked to come back up on stage, where the winners of each “face-off” will be announced.  The remaining face-off contestant is eligible to enter the contest again in upcoming weeks.   Contestant MUST be present to be a weekly semi-finalist.  In the event that a winning contestant leaves before the announcement is made, the remaining contestant who received the most votes will become a weekly semi-finalist.

All karaoke performances will be filmed.   The film recording becomes the property of WSJY. All contestants, by performing, give their unlimited consent to the posting of their performance video to the 1073WSJY.com, Facebook and other social media outlets to facilitate the promotion and voting process.

Each week, the winner of each “face off” will have a minimum of 15 seconds of their videotaped performance posted on www.1073WSJY.com for four (4) days for online voting with the potential of becoming a finalist.  Up to nine (9) videos will be posted each week from Friday morning thru the following Tuesday at 11:59 a.m.

Listeners will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite performance that week by registering for the WSJY “At Work Network” listener club. One vote per IP address per week. Weekly finalists will be determined by the total number of listener votes registered through the online voting process.  Contestants and voting listeners agree to be bound by any and all user agreements, terms and conditions of the voting site.

Each week, the three contestants with the highest number of votes at the conclusion of the online voting time period will be declared finalists.  If any of the nine videos becomes unavailable for any reason (other than disqualification for any reason, including suspected voting fraud) during the voting time period, the voting for that week will stop, and the 3 videos with the highest vote counts to that point will be declared that week’s finalists. Finalists will go on to perform at the WSJY Voice Finale at 841 Brew House in Whitewater on April 25, 2019.    Contestants not able to attend this event will forfeit their chance at the grand prize.

April 25 WILD CARD opportunity to enter: On the night of the finale, WSJY will announce a special opportunity to win a chance to perform in the finale.  WSJY will accept registration forms for one-hour for a WILD CARDS drawing.  Three (3) names will be drawn, and those winners will become instant WILD CARD finalists and invited to perform during the second half of the finale performances.

On April 25, there will be eighteen (18) performances by the weekly finalists and the WILD CARD finalists.

WSJY judges will select a winner from the 18 performances based on overall vocal performance.  Decisions by our panel of judges are final.  In the event of a tie in the vote scoring, an audience applause vote will be used as the tiebreaker, with the decisions of the judges being final.

The winner with the highest number of votes by judges scoring at the Rock County Voice Finale will receive a cash prize of $1,000.
