Moisturizing your skin could cut the risk of dementia. Researchers found as aging skin begins to break down, the immune system releases small proteins to signal that there’s inflammation in damaged areas of the skin. These tiny inflammatory proteins can leak into the body’s circulation system, and if there are enough of them, they trigger body-wide inflammation. This can lead to several conditions including heart disease, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. They say the best way to combat this is by keeping the skin moist.
