Brewers Win Opener; Knebel to Decide on Surgery

Milwaukee center fielder Lorenzo Cain robbed Jose Martinez of a game tying home run for the final out, lifting the Brewers over the St. Louis Cardinals 5-4. Christian Yelich put Milwaukee ahead to stay with a three-run homer off Miles Mikolas in the third. Mike Moustakas and pitcher Jhoulys Chacin also connected for the Brewers.  Chacin struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings in his third opening-day start.  In game two tonight Freddy Peralta will go for the Crew against Jack Flaherty for the Cards.  Our coverage starts at 6:35 on 940 WFAW.

Corey Knebel will decide on today what to do about his ailing right elbow, potentially sidelining a key part of Milwaukee’s bullpen for the season. The 27-year-old Knebel has a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. He could have Tommy John surgery and then return at some point next year, or try to rehab the injury.
