Moustakas HR Gives Brewers Sweep Of Pirates

A two-run home run by Mike Moustakas in the eighth inning gave the Brewers a lead they wouldn’t surrender in a 5-2 win over Pittsburgh Sunday.  Milwaukee swept the weekend series from the Pirates.  Christian Yelich also had a homer, his major league-leading 24th on “Yelich bobblehead” day at Miller Park.

The sellout crowd cheered each time Yelich came to the plate, but had little to celebrate until the sixth. Yelich kept the ballpark rocking when he hit the first pitch from starter Steven Brault into the party porch in right.

When the longball by Moustakas bounced off the roof of the S-U-V above the right-field fence, a lucky fan was the big winner.

Jeremy Jeffress (1-0) pitched the eighth and picked up the win. Josh Hader struck out the side in the ninth for his 16th save and moved the Brewers a season-high 10 games over .500.

The Brewers keep pace with the Chicago Cubs at the top of the N-L Central Division standings.

They take today off, then send Freddy Peralta to the mound to start a two-game series in Houston tomorrow.
