Black Friday Does Well, Cyber Monday Expected to Break Records

So it turns out that even with Thanksgiving being so late this year, people still love to shop on Black Friday. In fact this year was the biggest ever for online Black Friday Shopping. Shoppers rang up $7.4 BILLION in transactions from their phone, tablets, and laptops. That’s an insane amount for just online shopping!

It turns out that all the online shopping might have helped calm the crowds in malls and store on Black Friday too. According to RetailNext, traffic at stores fell 2.1% this year compared to last year and overall there was a 1.6% dip in sales.

That being said today, Cyber Monday, is expected to be huge. Last year there was $7.9 billion in sales and experts are predicting that number to go up to $9.4 billion this year!

What’s the biggest reason for the major jump? Well I think the answer lies in the Black Friday sales numbers. More people prefer to shop online these days as opposed to in store. Why risk the traffic and chaos of a mall or store during Black Friday when you can get the same deals on Monday from the comfort of your couch? I know I’ll be diving in to some Cyber Monday deals today!
