WI High Court Rules Against Safer At Home Extension; Dane & Rock Counties Keep Rules in Place

Three weeks after Republican lawmakers asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court to block the extension of the governor’s Safer at Home order, the justices gave them what they wanted Wednesday.  The high court determined the Evers administration overstepped its authority.

In response, health officials in Dane and Rock Counties issued their own orders which keep the governor’s Safer at Home guidelines in place until May 26.

The governor had argued the stay-at-home order was necessary to slow the coronavirus spread – even though the shutdown was devastating the economy at the same time.  It isn’t clear what happens next.  A poll shows almost seven-of-10 Wisconsin residents back the governor’s order, but that’s actually a steep drop over the last two months.
