What I Keep in my Car so I’m Ready for Anything!

My first car was a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta. I loved the Jetta, but she had some quirks. While driving the trunk would pop open, nights it rained my sunroof would open by itself (while the car was off), and she had a crazy overheating problem. With all those issues and more I was left stranded on the road more than a couple of times.

I won’t lie to you, being stuck in the middle of an intersection because the battery dies or on the side of I-90 at 12 am after a John Mayer concert sucks. But because of all the issues and standings, I got pretty good at figuring out what I needed to keep inside my car for those “just in case” situations.

I keep a small tote full of supplies in my trunk, alongside a set of jumper cables and two sleeping bags.

Inside my tote I have:

  • gloves
  • hats
  • water bottles
  • pain relievers (i.e. Advil)
  • feminine products
  • sun screen
  • bug spray
  • band-aids
  • portable charger
  • umbrella
  • bags (plastic and trash)
  • hand/feet warmers
