Tips to Help You De-Stress

Let’s get real for a second, life can be really stressful. Especially right now. There’s so much to worry about; COVID-19, finances, job security, family life, and the list goes on and on. It can be really hard to shut all that off and focus on all the good that’s happening around you. I’m super guilty of getting into my own head and stressing out over situations, but over the years I’ve learned some helpful tips to take your mind to a better place, even if it’s just for awhile.

My first tip is to take some deep breaths. You’re not going to be able to even focus on any of my other tips if you can’t control your breathing and center yourself. My next tip that’s helped me so much is to listen to your favorite music. I just got John Mayer’s Continuum on vinyl so I’ve been spinning that a lot. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a new album to listen to and relax.

Another thing you can try is writing out your thoughts. If you’ve read any of my other blogs you know I’m big into journaling. It’s so therapeutic to get everything your thinking out of your head without the fear of actually telling anyone. Of course, it’s hard to be stressed while you’re eating a good meal. Cooking a new meal helps in two ways: the first is your distracted and get to take your mind off of things by focusing on what your cooking. The second is now you get to enjoy a yummy meals!

I’m not so into running, but taking a run or going for a walk in nature can really clear your head. Plus, sunshine (vitamin C) helps raise your serotonin (the chemical in your brain that makes you happy) levels!
